OH LA VACHE

(rhymes with oh my gosh)

So we did thing & opened a cheese shop!

Our little spot, Oh La Vache, is located in Long Beach’s 4th Street’s Retro Row neighborhood. Although cheese rules everything around us, we wanted our little shop to be more than just your average cheese shop. Not only did we set out to make Oh La Vache more approachable, but we also envision it as a one stop neighborhood shop for all your foodie needs.

We may have over 100 different cheeses in our cases (a number that only keeps growing!), but you can also find an assortment of imported cured meats, house-pickled seasonal veggies, jams, vinegars, oils, mustards, sauces, pastas, olives, crackers, bread, sweets and all sorts of other specialty food items not easily found around town.

With our ever-rotating unique array of cheeses in our cases, we really want anyone who walks into our shop to feel comfortable trying something new, from cheese novice to experts. So in addition to guiding customers through all the delights in our cases, we cut all cheeses to order with no minimums. That way customers can try a little of a lot of things to figure out what they like.

We love sharing delicious food with people, we can’t wait to have you in!

“Oh, La Vache!”

BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
It’s a French exclamation of surprise, admiration, or shock, similar to ‘oh my god!’ ‘wow!’ or ‘damn!’ but more literally ‘holy cow!’. And although the American phrase has been left in the 90s, Oh, la vache! is still the expression of choice in France.
